Capital One Miles

Definition

Capital One miles are the transferable rewards currency earned on Venture-family cards, including the Venture X ($395 annual fee) and Venture ($95). Every purchase earns a flat 2x miles, and miles transfer to 15+ airline and hotel partners, most at a 1:1 ratio.

Capital One miles pair the simplest earning structure in the business — a flat 2x on everything — with genuine transfer flexibility, which is why the Venture X is a common "one-card" setup.

How it works. Miles from any Venture-family card pool together. You can erase travel purchases at 1 cent per mile, book through Capital One Travel, or transfer to partners such as Turkish Miles&Smiles, Air Canada Aeroplan, Avianca LifeMiles, British Airways, Flying Blue, and Wyndham. Most transfers are 1:1; a few partners are 2:1.5 or lower, so check the ratio before moving miles.

Example. $30,000 of annual spend on a Venture X earns 60,000 miles. Erased against travel, that's $600. Transferred 1:1 to a partner for a business-class award that sells for $1,800, the same 60,000 miles triple in value to 3.0 CPP.

2026 note. Venture X lounge terms tightened on February 1, 2026: authorized-user lounge access now costs $125 per year per account, and guests pay $45 each.

Common mistakes: always erasing travel at 1 cent instead of comparing a partner transfer, and overlooking the 2:1.5 partners when calculating value. See the Capital One transfer partners deep dive.
