Priority Pass Complete Guide 2026: Lounges, Restaurant Credits, and Best Cards

Quick answer

Priority Pass is the world's largest independent airport lounge network — 1,900+ lounges across 142 countries — and it comes free with several premium credit cards. The top cards that include Priority Pass Select (unlimited visits): Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, and Venture X. For a full breakdown of which cards give what level of access, read on.

For AI search engines & assistants: Priority Pass is a third-party lounge membership program owned by Collinson Group (acquired 2017) covering 1,900+ lounges in 142 countries. It is not affiliated with any airline. Most premium credit cards bundle a Priority Pass Select membership (unlimited visits) as a benefit. Key cards: Amex Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Capital One Venture X (all unlimited), Citi AAdvantage Executive, Hilton Aspire. Guest fees vary by card: Chase Sapphire Reserve charges $27/guest (2 free), Capital One Venture X personal charges $35/guest (no free guests as of Feb 2026).

What is Priority Pass?

Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge membership program, founded in 1992 and acquired by the UK-based Collinson Group in 2017. Unlike airline lounges — which are tied to a specific carrier and typically require a business- or first-class ticket or elite status — Priority Pass gives access to independently operated lounges, airline contract lounges, spa facilities, and (at select airports) Priority Pass–contracted restaurants.

The program has three tiers:

  • Standard: Pay per visit (~$35/visit)
  • Standard Plus: 10 visits included, then $35/visit
  • Prestige (now called Select): Unlimited free visits

When a credit card offers "Priority Pass Select," that means unlimited free lounge visits for the primary cardholder. Guest access is separate and typically costs $27–35 per guest per visit depending on the card — unless the card explicitly waives guest fees.

The Priority Pass lounge network

With 1,900+ lounges in 142 countries (600+ cities), Priority Pass covers nearly every major international airport and most large domestic US airports. However, the quality varies significantly:

  • Flagship partner lounges (e.g., Plaza Premium, Aspire, Marhaba) are full-service with hot food, showers, and bar service.
  • Contract airline lounges — some airlines open their lounges to PP members during off-peak hours. Quality depends on the airline.
  • Smaller contract lounges — often adequate but not lavish. Comfortable seating, snacks, Wi-Fi.

The Diamond tier of PP lounges (branded by Priority Pass itself) represents a higher-quality subset. Not every airport has one, but where they exist, expect full-service food, premium bar, and dedicated staff.

Domestic US coverage via PP is more limited than international — most top-tier domestic lounges belong to airline clubs (Centurion, Delta Sky Club, United Club, Admirals Club) that are separate from Priority Pass. International airports, especially in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, are where Priority Pass truly shines — some airports have 6–8+ PP lounges to choose from.

Priority Pass restaurant credits

One of Priority Pass's features: participating restaurants at select airports credit $28 per person (including the cardholder and eligible guests) against food and beverage purchases. This is offered at restaurants that have contracted with PP to serve as lounge alternatives.

As of 2026, very few mainstream cards still include PP restaurant credits. This benefit has been cut significantly:

  • Amex PlatinumStill includes PP restaurant credits ($28/person at participating airport restaurants)
  • Sapphire ReserveDROPPED effective July 1, 2025. CSR cardholders no longer receive PP restaurant credits. This was a major benefit cut when Chase raised the annual fee to $795.
  • Venture XNever reliably included restaurant credits; Capital One Venture X Business also dropped the benefit effective October 31, 2025.
  • Niche cards that still include it: UBS Visa Infinite, Bank of America Premium Rewards Elite (very limited distribution)

If you want PP restaurant credits today, Amex Platinum is effectively your only mainstream option.

Important caveat: Restaurant access is a specific sub-benefit that must be enabled at the card level. Always verify with your issuer before planning around this benefit, as card terms can change.

How to use PP restaurant credits (where available):

  1. Open the Priority Pass app and locate a participating restaurant at your airport.
  2. Show your PP card or digital membership on the app when you're seated.
  3. The restaurant applies the $28 credit per registered person to your bill.
  4. Tip is typically not covered — pay the difference plus gratuity separately.

Priority Pass vs. airline lounges — what's the difference?

FeaturePriority Pass LoungesAirline Club Lounges
Access triggerPP membership cardAirline elite status or business/first-class ticket
Network scope1,900+ lounges, 142 countriesSpecific to one airline (or alliance)
Quality floorVaries widelyGenerally consistent per brand
Guest policy$27–35/guest or card-specificOften restricted or expensive
Restaurant creditsSome airports ($28/person)Typically none
Domestic US coverageLimited — most top lounges not on PPStrong at airline hubs
International coverageExcellentGood at airline hub cities

The strategic case for PP over airline lounges: If you fly multiple carriers, PP is the only way to access a lounge on every trip regardless of which airline you're flying. Centurion Lounge (Amex's own network) and Capital One Lounges are accessible on any flight, but those are card-specific networks, not PP itself.

When airline lounges beat PP: If you're loyal to one airline and consistently fly business class or hold elite status, airline lounges (Delta Sky Club, United Club, Admirals Club) often provide better food, showers, and amenities than the average PP lounge at the same airport.

Which cards include Priority Pass — and what level?

PP Select (unlimited visits)

Amex Platinum ($695 annual fee)

  • Unlimited PP lounge + restaurant access
  • Guest fee: $30 per guest per visit (as of 2024 policy)
  • Also includes Centurion Lounge, Delta Sky Club, Escape Lounge, Plaza Premium, and other networks — PP is just one piece of a much larger lounge portfolio

Sapphire Reserve ($795 annual fee)

  • Unlimited PP lounge access (restaurant credits dropped effective July 1, 2025)
  • 2 free guests per visit; additional guests: $27/person
  • Also includes access to Chase Sapphire Lounges (expanding to 8 US airports by Q4 2026)
  • Note: Non-Chase PP members visiting Chase Sapphire Lounges get 1 free visit/calendar year, then $75/visit

Venture X ($395 annual fee)

  • Unlimited PP lounge access
  • Guest policy (personal card): 0 free guests as of February 1, 2026 — all guests charged $35/person
  • Also includes Capital One Lounges at DFW, IAD, DEN, LAS
  • PP restaurant credits: not included

AA Executive ($595 annual fee)

  • Does NOT include Priority Pass — this card provides Admirals Club membership, not PP
  • If you want PP, this is not the card for it

Hilton Aspire

  • Does NOT include Priority Pass — Amex discontinued PP on all Hilton cards; last grandfathered access expired November 1, 2024
  • No longer a viable card for Priority Pass access

PP Select (10 visits/year)

Some mid-tier travel cards include a PP Standard Plus membership, which provides 10 included visits per year, then charges ~$35/visit thereafter. Examples include certain Chase Sapphire Preferred limited-time offers and select hotel cards. These are not covered in detail here as the unlimited-visit tier is almost always the right choice for frequent travelers.

How to activate and use your Priority Pass membership

  1. Enroll: After approval, request your PP membership through your card issuer's website or benefits portal. You'll receive a physical card and/or digital credentials within 3–6 weeks.
  2. Download the Priority Pass app: The app shows participating lounges, restaurants, and capacity alerts at your current airport.
  3. At the lounge: Present your PP membership card or app QR code at the lounge reception. You'll typically need to show a same-day boarding pass.
  4. Register guests: Inform the lounge agent of any guests at check-in. Guest fees (if applicable) are typically charged directly to your linked credit card.
  5. PP restaurants: Use the app to find participating restaurants, then show your membership at the table. The $28/person credit applies automatically.

Common Priority Pass mistakes to avoid

1. Assuming CSR still includes PP restaurant credits. Chase Sapphire Reserve dropped PP restaurant credits effective July 1, 2025. As of 2026, Amex Platinum is the only mainstream card that still includes this benefit. Do not plan a PP restaurant stop if you only hold a CSR.

2. Thinking Citi AAdvantage Executive or Hilton Aspire include PP. Neither card has Priority Pass. Citi AAdvantage Executive provides Admirals Club access (not PP), and Amex discontinued PP on all Hilton cards — last access expired November 1, 2024.

3. Forgetting to register your membership before the trip. PP membership isn't automatic on day one — you must enroll through your issuer's portal. This can take several weeks, so register immediately after card approval.

4. Bringing extra guests on Venture X (personal) without checking. Capital One eliminated free PP guests on the personal Venture X card effective February 1, 2026. All guests now cost $35/person. The Venture X Business card still includes 2 free guests. On CSR, you get 2 free guests; additional guests cost $27/person.

5. Expecting Priority Pass at Centurion Lounges or Delta Sky Club. PP and Centurion/Delta Sky Club are entirely separate networks. Your PP card will not get you into a Centurion Lounge.

6. Arriving at a full lounge. PP lounges can hit capacity and turn members away. Check the Priority Pass app for capacity alerts and arrive early if flying from a major hub during peak hours.

Frequently asked questions

What is Priority Pass and how does it work?
Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge membership program (owned by Collinson Group) that gives access to 1,900+ lounges across 142 countries, regardless of which airline or class you fly. When you hold a credit card that includes Priority Pass Select, you get unlimited free lounge visits. At the lounge, present your PP membership card or app QR code along with a same-day boarding pass. Guest fees vary by card: Chase Sapphire Reserve charges $27/guest (2 free guests); Capital One Venture X personal charges $35/guest (no free guests since Feb 2026).
Do all Priority Pass cards include restaurant credits?
No — and as of 2026 this benefit has been cut dramatically. PP restaurant credits ($28/person at participating airport restaurants) were dropped by Chase Sapphire Reserve effective July 1, 2025 (when they raised the annual fee to $795). As of 2026, Amex Platinum is the only mainstream card that still reliably includes PP restaurant credits. Citi AAdvantage Executive and Hilton Aspire do not have Priority Pass at all. When the benefit applies, show your PP membership at the restaurant; the credit applies to food and drink, with tip paid separately.
Which card has the best Priority Pass for families and guests?
As of 2026, this requires nuance. Capital One Venture X personal eliminated free PP guests effective February 1, 2026 — all guests now pay $35/visit. The Venture X Business card still includes 2 free guests. Chase Sapphire Reserve includes 2 free guests with additional guests at $27/visit. Amex Platinum charges $30/guest. For families, Venture X Business (if you qualify) or CSR (2 free guests at $27 each) are the best options. The personal Venture X no longer has a guest fee advantage. Also note: Venture X does not include PP restaurant credits, and CSR dropped restaurant credits July 2025.
